Pilates and Yoga Holiday in South West France, 21 – 25 May, 25 – 29 June

Whether you’re in need of an energizing wellness holiday to kick start your fitness goals, or a restorative break to slow down the pace and clear your mind, a break in the beautiful Languedoc of south west France could be just the tonic. We serve fresh daily juices followed by a yoga or Pilates class then a leisurely breakfast of delicious fresh coffee and pastries in the garden. You can spend the day as active or a relaxed as you wish, walking, kayaking or just enjoying a good book in the sunshine. In the evening, we take a more therapeutic approach to our bodies, encouraging a more restful practice, calmer breathing and deeper stretches.

Although the programme is planned in advance, we want you to have the best experience possible, so if you do have any special requests or something in particular that you would like to learn during the week, we’d be delighted to incorporate that. There are several guided walks during the holiday, no previous experience in the hills is necessary.

The beauty of where we are based gives us many routes on our doorstep, so depending on the level of the group, walks are tailored accordingly. From a stroll alongside the river Aude through to a 2 hour walk up and over the heights of Bugarach, you will have time to discover the delights of the local hills, taking in forests, lakes and rivers. We want to share our healthy attitude to holidays with you and we know that you will take home not just good memories, but a positive, lasting experience as part of your wellness journey.

Accommodation

Nestling in the high valley of the river Aude, surrounded by centuries of history and mystery, the village is an oasis of calm and comfort. It is healing place! Coupled with the fact that the Languedoc gets an average of 300 days a year of sunshine, it is impossible not to relax here.

The retreat home is a fabulous old three story house with pretty gardens, views of the mountains and a little onsite restaurant. The rooms are all en suite and beautifully decorated.

Teacher

Charlotte has been a personal trainer for 15 years, working with a really wide variety of clients from professional athletes to obese children. She has done a lot of work with people recovering from illness or surgery. 5 years ago she also qualified as a Pilates instructor and since one year added a yoga teacher training to her repertoire. She has always loved both disciplines as they’ve helped her through pregnancy, injury, rehabilitation, stress, and more recently as a change from high impact sports.

The classes she teaches are aimed at all levels, offering lots of progressions to more experienced students whilst really encouraging and correctly basics with beginners. On the retreats you will be doing a variety of classes both indoors and outdoors, from an energetic power pilates session before breakfast to Yin Yoga evening class on a hill before dinner.

Cuisine

We prepare French cuisine using locally sourced food. Vegans and vegetarians can be catered for. A daily freshly squeezed juice is served before the morning class

What to pack

* Clothing
* Light comfortable clothing is all you need here in the summer. The average temperature in June is around 25-28 degrees.
* You will need suitable clothing for classes (leggings, shorts, vests, sports tops)
* You may wish to bring swimwear
* Trainers or light walking shoes for the hill walking
* Flip flops or sandals are a must!

How to get here

Guests can fly into Carcassonne airport where they will be picked up and dropped off as part of the package, but there are also Toulouse and Perpignan airports where we can organise transport at a small additional cost. Alternatively they may wish to hire a car so that they can also explore the local area.
