World Vegetarian Month brings awareness to the ethical, environmental, health, and humanitarian benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle.

While of course it’s not mandatory to eat a vegetarian diet if you practice yoga, there are many reasons why yogis choose to forgo meat and poultry. Nourishing yourself with fruits, vegetables, legumes, beans, and grains is no doubt healthy for the body and mind.

Autumn Hiking and Yoga Retreat in the Lake District

Autumn is such a beautiful time to experience a hiking and yoga retreat in the Lake District. The colours are turning from a vibrant green to hues of red, orange and soft browns. It is one of our favourite times of the year to visit as the crowds are gone and it takes on a slower pace of life. This year is also in half term so for all you teachers this one is also for you!

Our venue in the Lake District is perfectly set up to manage the coronavirus safety measures because it is a hotel / B&B so all rooms are en-suite, the food is all provided by the venue and it is cleaned on a regular basis. The yoga shala is beautiful and we are staggering the yoga classes in two groups but this won’t detract from your retreat experience. It can suit early birds and people who like to sleep a little longer!

With our qualified and very experienced mountain guide Mark on hand to lead the day hike on Friday, and your yoga teacher to lead a more gentle yet equally as stunning walk to Tarn Howes directly from our retreat centre, immerse yourself in nature and feel the benefits of this, being away from the frenetic and urban landscape of your day to day living. Take a packed lunch and just sit and watch the world go by, or enjoy a bit of forest bathing and meditation.

After a day’s excursions, unwind with evening yin and yoga Nidra followed by a vegan and vegetarian feast.

This hiking and yoga retreat in the Lake District is suitable for those who love more dramatic countryside experience, love hiking or being active. That’s right – we have a new chalet to share with you for your skiing yoga holiday in the French Alps. Our luxury chalet is situated in the quaint French ski village La Rosiere. We are only 800m from the ski lifts and the bus stop is 200m outside the chalet. West facing, relax after your day of skiing on your private balcony in the sunshine or on the slopes for aperitif. The location and quality of our new chalet make this a truly memorable ski and yoga holiday with us.

La Rosière – Espace San Bernardo ski area stands out for its sunshine, snow coverage and its connection with Italy. New for 2019 is a whole new ski area called the Mont Valaisan ski area. It boasts 5 new red runs at an altitude of 2800m, offering more challenging terrain for the more advanced skier or boarder. It also offers more freeride terrain too.

La Rosiere is also known for great beginner runs and gentle slopes so it is perfect for all levels. If you are beginner you can choose to relax at the chalet after your lessons as you have easy access to it on foot or you can chose to relax in one of the many on piste restaurants or cafes along the main street.

Start the day with yoga in our stunning new yoga studio with glass bottom and large windows overlooking the valley and get set for a full days ski. Return to the chalet whenever you feel like it, enjoy the spa area with hot tub and sauna, unwind with a massage and a more restorative yoga class, ready for a delicious gourmet 4 course gourmet vegan / vegetarian evening meal.
