Do your homework to find the perfect venue. You need to be passionate about your location, so be sure to look for something that connects with you and your teaching ethos.
Here we share our favourite properties to host a yoga retreat in England, all of which are long established and well experienced in receiving and supporting teachers and their groups.
Charney Manor offers a relaxing and peaceful stay in our gorgeous countryside setting where you can explore our stunning gardens, opt for various local picturesque walks or just take some time to read in our fully stocked library. All our stays are fully catered and are all taken in our historic 13th Century dining room.
The Manor is home to 23 bedrooms all of which have private bathrooms. These bedrooms can be booked on a single occupancy basis or if a larger capacity is required, 35 guests on a shared basis or 43 guests if our Gillett’s cottage is used for additional accommodation.
Indoor communal spaces include the sitting room, social room, lower barn and the library which is fully stocked with a variety of books on yoga, meditation and spirituality.
Outdoor, there are large gardens, a secret garden, an orchard, courtyard with seating and picnic areas. We value sustainability, using local produce and fair-trade products where possible. We compost and recycle as much as possible offering our guests the use of the electric car charger and have been awarded a Bronze Green Tourism award
Located in Charney Bassett, Oxfordshire, we are located 1.5 hours from London, 20 minutes from the Picturesque Cotswold’s and 20 minutes from the historic Oxford.
All our stays are fully catered. All our meals are freshly prepared on site using locally sourced produce. We cater for a variety of dietary requirements and our catering team can specifically create a menu for your retreat.
Set in a private valley of over 700 acres of the rolling Devon countryside Middle Coombe Farm is an established and exclusive retreat venue.
The converted Cider Barn has been painstakingly restored with underfloor heating and large doors opening on the meadow which makes it an inspirational space for indoor and outdoor activities.
The Listed 16th Century farmhouse and Allensdown barn sleep up to 21 in 4* luxury and includes exclusive use of the swimming pool and sauna.
Middle Coombe Farm can sleep up to 21 in comfort. There are 7 bedrooms including several doubles with 3 en-suites plus a large family bathroom. The bedrooms are all lovingly decorated with many period features and antique furniture and all have thick pocket sprung mattresses, feather duvets and pillows and 100% white cotton bedlinen and towels.
The farmhouse has a large kitchen, a traditional drawing room and a separate library and playroom. There is also more space in the adjacent Allensdown Barn with its 3 bedrooms, bathroom and shower room, own lounge, large kitchen.
The traditional Cider Barn has underfloor heating making it warm for floor based activities. The meadow offers a flat space complete with traditional fire pit. The woodland glades offer alternative Yoga spaces.
Bore Place is situated on a private 500-acre organic estate and features three accommodation options for staying groups sleeping a maximum of 50 people altogether. You can rent the spaces individually or altogether.
The venue is home to an educational and environmental charity and has sustainability at its core. 45% of its energy needs are generated through an onsite wind turbine, photovoltaic panels and the management of the estate woodlands to provide wood chip for its heating and hot water.
Waste water and sewage are processed biologically and the whole estate, including the farm, are managed organically. Surrounded by rolling hills and pretty woodlands, with walks straight from the door, the estate is an ideal venue for yoga and retreat groups. A menu of organic food can be arranged or you are welcome to self-cater.
There is a Large Barn ideal for a group yoga practice. In addition there is a smaller Studio in Bore Place House which can be used by groups when staying in the house. The estate is situated on a 500-acre organic estate and Bore Place House offers a large garden featuring a lawn and terrace where groups often practice yoga
A hidden gem in the heart of the North Yorkshire countryside, Hornington Manor is a unique barn venue. The Grade II listed Manor dates back to 1770 and has been lovingly restored to provide luxury self-catering accommodation.
Every part of Hornington Manor has its own story to tell, from the original servants’ bells hanging in the Servants’ Quarters, to the beautifully rustic and characterful wedding barn which was previously home to new-born lambs.
We offer plenty of options for both indoor and outdoor yoga workshops. For large groups, the barn is the ideal space whilst Hornington Gallery is the perfect setting for smaller, more intimate groups. If you wish to take advantage the stunning surroundings, an outdoor yoga session on the Manor Lawn will be one that your guests will remember, with sheep grazing in the fields beyond the Ha-Ha wall.
We have 19 beautiful en-suite bedrooms (17 include kingsize beds, two bedrooms include twin beds), with luxurious hand-made mattresses which start life on or very own 300-acre farm.
Retreat organisers can provide spacious, private accommodation for 10-16 retreat attendees, each with their own lodge, cottage or double room, with homely bedrooms and their own private kitchen, dining and living space, leaving rooms available for tutors and staff. Alternatively, shared rooms are available for larger groups.
The main barn is an ideal space for indoor yoga and dance workshops, lounge dining, films on big screen or drinks at the bar in the evening.
Other indoor communal spaces include the hay barn which is often used as a dedicated Pilates Studio, our Treatment Studio which can be used for relaxing or sports massages, farmhouse reception rooms, the cinema barn which has been used as a creche for child minders or for reformative yoga and the open bay oak framed games barn and grounds are ideal spot for morning fitness sessions. Station pick-ups with baby seats, bedrooms with cots and high chairs are available for family and Mummy retreats.
Outdoors, there are large gardens, an orchard, courtyards with seating, fire pits and a barbecue, children’s play area with swings, zip wire, large trampoline and thatched wendy house. Hot tubs are also available to hire from our trusted supplier.
Located in the High Weald, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Fair Oak Farm is an hour from London and 45 mins from Brighton, making it the ideal venue for retreat organisers wanting to provide the best possible setting for their guests to relax and rejuvenate. We can also assist retreat organisers with a variety of local experts, suppliers and catering options if required.
