For those into retro glamour in addition to wellness, the St Marc is your hotel. Located in the 2nd arrondisement on Rue Saint Marc, just a ten minute walk from the Louvre. This 18th-century five story mansion was once the elegant abode of Louis XV’s chief minister and the headquarters for the era’s newspaper, Le National. Today, the renovated property is reborn as a 4 star boutique hotel with an art-deco super seventies look, courtesy of the designer duo, Britt Moran and Emiliano, from the Milan agency Dimore Studio.

Each room (there are 25) has a different theme and colour scheme and has been cleverly designed, mixing vintage and contemporary furniture, velvet rich fabrics and hues of pink, green, yellow and blue. My suite is huge and luxurious, everything about it is striking. There’s so much room, it’s more like a private apartment with high ceilings and big windows bringing in lots of light during the day and drowned in long, thick velvet curtains, no need to worry about it being too bright in the mornings! Bonne nuit!

The bathroom in contrast shines beautifully, covered in classic black and white marble tiles with a stand alone Victorian style bath. The shower is equally as dazzling and you can pamper yourself with the Hermes toiletries, perfect for an in room spa experience!

The hidden gem of the hotel is the first class wellness area in the basement which you have the luxury of having all to yourself as it’s by advance booking only in one hour slots. There’s a relaxation pool with hydro massage, hammam and steam room to leave you feeling blissed out at the end of your sixty minutes. And should an hour not be enough, then remember there’s always the luxury bathtub to soak in. Make sure you book in advance to ensure you get a reservation.

There’s no restaurant in the hotel but they serve a delicious breakfast and there’s a gorgeous courtyard with a secret garden to enjoy your petit déjeuner in the sunshine or a glass of wine from the honesty bar.

With special thanks to the wonderful staff who really go that extra mile to take care of their guests. I left my coat and they very kindly dropped it off at the Narcisse Blanc Hotel where I was heading to next. It seems I’m not the only guest that has fallen in love with the St Marc, check out the fabulous reviews out on Tripadvisor.
