75-Hour Yoga Teaching Methodology & Sequencing Training in Evia

In this ten day advanced 75-Hour Yoga Teaching Methodology & Sequencing Training course led by the Alpha Yoga School, you will learn from experienced and passionate teachers.

All Alpha Yoga School Teacher Training Courses are registered with with the Yoga Alliance USA. The course covers teaching methodology, refining alignment and how to adjust students in different postural categories. Refine your skills as a teacher while enjoying being a student.

It has become very common to get adjusted in yoga classes, with many students expecting to get adjusted. Since there are infinite possibilities of how to adjust different body types in a posture, adjusting has become an art.

While some students respond to verbal instructions, others respond to hands-on adjustments. That makes adjustments a very effective way of communicating with your students. Often the best way to understand something is not through information but through experience. You will learn different types and techniques of adjusting approximately 20 poses in a safe, supportive environment.

Joanna Vladescu
Joanna started practicing yoga in a studio in Athens in 2005. Unwilling to miss a class, she knew that she had found a beautiful practice, both physically and mentally.

Since 2009 she has completed workshops and advanced studies with first generation teachers of Ashtanga Vinyasa lineage including: Manju Jois, David Swenson, Eddie Stern, Laruga Glaser, Kristina Karitinou, Rolf Naujokat, David Garrigues.

Joanna completed her teacher training in Ashtanga Yoga in San Francisco and another one in Advanced Vinyasa Yoga in Goa, India. She also did a 50 hour Teacher Tune-up course with Noah Maze. She is dedicated to her Ashtanga practice, always looking for a teacher. When she’s in India, she continues her studies with Regina Ehlers.

Joanna practices and teaches primarily Ashtanga, Vinyasa Yoga and handstands. She likes to inspire people to adopt Ashtanga as a therapeutic method of self-transformation and self-discovery.

In her class, she emphasises the bandhas and breath, that allow us to make our practice more than just physical exercise. She gives modifications for all body types as she believes yoga is for everyone and everyone has his/her own limitations. The yoga pose is not about how it looks, but how it feels.

She is funny, caring, inspiring and gives full attention to her students. She will take your practice to the next level with precise verbal and hands-on adjustments. Joanna has taught in more than 15 teacher trainings. Joanna is a Thai Massage Therapist and has a degree in Economics.

Rowie Geraerts
Rowie completed 200-hour Ashtanga yoga teacher training in 2011 and 300-hour Vinyasa yoga teacher training in 2014, both at Sampoorna Yoga in India. She attended her first yoga class with her father at age 15.

Rowie has spent a lot of time travelling and has been lucky to train with some of the most acclaimed international teachers such as Les Levanthal, Megan Currie, Ana Forest, Pradeep Tetioa, Magdelena McWeld, Patrick Beach and Dana Trixie Flynn.

From sequencing courses in N.Y. to the slower yin training courses, Rowie’s classes are strong, challenging, fluid and always a little different. Under her guidance, expect to find a real break from whatever else is going on in your life.

Rowie believes that practicing yoga is life changing. She loves that it keeps us supple, nimble, and flexible both physically and mentally. As a true believer that yoga can benefit people’s lives, Rowie is happiest when teaching. Rowie has taught yoga in more than 15 teacher trainings.

Henrik Schmidt
Henrik encourages his students to find a practice they can commit to and make it a part of their daily routine. His goal is for students to practice yoga every day and not just asanas, but also pranayama and mediation. For him, Yoga is about transformation, it’s not just about the physical postures, it’s about acceptance and how to concentrate the mind. Henrik believes the most important thing is that we practice with dedication and devotion, which leads to an inevitable physical, mental and spiritual change.

According to his understanding of yoga, as we get more flexible in the body, the mind becomes less rigid as well. As we grow stronger, we can stand up for what we believe in and speak up when we see injustice around us. As we gain balance on the mat, we find balance in our daily lives. Yoga has taught him not to be so hard on himself, not to take everything so seriously, and that in order to find answers; the journey needs to be an inward journey.

Henrik believes that the key to wellbeing and happiness in this life lies inside of us. Having taught a lot of different classes and numerous students, Henrik has had the pleasure of seeing tremendous change in those who are devoted to a regular practice.

His advice to new students is to find a teacher that speaks to them and go to the classes that work He believes that through yoga we learn that we always have a choice as to how we react to things that happen in our lives. He keeps his classes joyful, energetic, challenging, and even ‘mind-blowing’ at times.

Teaching Methodology

In this theoretical and practical course, you will tune up your teaching skills. Learn how to:

  • demonstrate effectively and safely
  • guide students into asanas
  • position yourself for optimal viewing
  • use props effectively
  • offer modifications and variations of poses

Morning Asana’s

Each morning you will practice a 90-minute vinyasa class. Whether we see ourselves as beginners or advanced in our practice, we all have something to learn. We provide support and challenge to suit each individual’s needs.

There will be two teachers in the morning class; one to lead and one to offer hands-on adjustments. After the class, if desired, we can break down the sequence and discuss the class.

Learn how to sequence intelligently, how to prepare the body for peak asanas and how to integrate the effects of the practice. Understand the rules of sequencing and how to use them to deliver creative, safe classes for beginners, intermediate and advanced students.

Hands on adjustments

You will learn different types and techniques of hands-on adjustments. You will:

  • adjust your student in each pose without verbal leading
  • verbally lead your student into postures while adjusting him/her
  • adjust students while the teacher is leading the morning asana class
  • By the end of the course, you will feel confident in adjusting the most common vinyasa poses

During the workshops we break down complex postures like lotus, headstand, deep backbends, transitions, chaturanga dandasana and deep inversions.

We teach baby pre-requisite steps that include preparation exercises, appropriate warm-ups and requirements for the full expression of the posture. These classes will bring safety, awareness and mindfulness to your practice and teaching.
