Join Jeff Phenix at the stunning Poundon House, Oxfordshire for a wonderful yoga weekend. Wrapped in the peace and tranquillity of the surrounding countryside, this UK yoga weekend provides the perfect opportunity to rest and recharge. Take this opportunity to immerse yourself in a full schedule and spectrum of yoga and practices, eat delicious, healthy vegetarian food, and return home feeling refreshed and restored.

Over the course of the weekend there will be four meditation sessions and four yoga sessions.

The morning yoga practices will be a dynamic, creative, playful and explorative ‘deep slow flow’ asana practice and will include meditation and pranayama.The afternoon sessions will be a mellower, soothing and nurturing practice, delving into areas such as yin yoga, restoratives, pranayama, chakras, yoga nidra and meditation. This will be a deeply nourishing and blissful practise.

Your teacher Jeff Phenix has lots of experience teaching students of all levels. His depth of understanding, playful approach, ability to challenge students to safely explore their edge and his love of pranayama and meditation will give you the perfect opportunity to deepen your practice both physically and internally.

In your free time between yoga sessions and mealtimes you have the opportunity to enjoy the grounds and surrounding countryside as there are lots of walking opportunities. There are lovely characterful bathrooms just inviting you to take a long soak, massages are available and there is a lovely, comfy lounge where you can curl up by the open fire with a book and a cup of tea.

Accommodation

Our accommodation is a beautiful family owned stately home – Poundon House, that has been refurbished to a beautiful standard, staying in keeping with its original features. There are no en-suite bedrooms because of this.

There are 10 bedrooms and 8 are twin or double rooms and 2 are single rooms with large double beds for one person or a couple or two friends sharing.

The rooms have a sumptuous, classic feel so you will feel spoilt. Yet it also feels homely so you can completely relax and switch off. They are all spacious, luxuriously decorated in amazing fabrics and have beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.

The house has a huge welcoming lounge with cosy sofas and an open fire. The dining room is light and airy with fabulous views of the grounds. There are fascinating paintings and fresh flowers everywhere.

There are a lot of spaces to relax on your own, the living area, the library, the dining room and all rooms are spacious and some have sofas in for ultimate cosiness.

Arrival on Friday is from 4pm and the retreat will begin at 6pm with a welcome session and short yoga practice and dinner will be at 7.30pm. You are free to go home after lunch on Sunday by 2pm. During the free time you can relax, read, have bath, enjoy a massage or take a walk in the lovely countryside as you wish.

Cuisine

You will be treated to a healthy feast of delicious, home cooked vegetarian food, lovingly prepared by our talented chef Marc from Fork & Bindi, which will nourish your body and your soul.

The menu is naturally light on dairy and non dairy milk is provided as standard with breakfast and hot drinks. If you have any specific allergies or dietary intolerances these can be catered for at an additional cost of £10 a day due to the cost of extra ingredients and time to make extra dishes.

Teacher

The retreat is lead by experienced and well-regarded London based yoga teacher Jeff Phenix. Jeff has been practicing yoga for 25 years and teaching since 2002. You can find him teaching at many of triyoga’s branches and he has been training teachers for the past 10 years.

He enjoys being creative with sequencing and postures, and love incorporating meditation and the traditional spirituality and philosophy of yoga into his teaching. His intention as a yoga teacher is to awaken his students’ sense of bliss and wonder and help them become more at peace and ease with themselves and the world.

Through his company Phenix Retreats Jeff has been offering regular UK and international retreats since 2005 so has lots of experience in making this a really special retreat experience.

This retreat is suitable for all levels from the relative beginner to experienced yogis and yoga teachers as Jeff is very experienced at giving lots of options so everyone can practice at the level that is right and appropriate for them.

To help with social distancing, unless you are coming with a friend who you are already in a bubble with we would encourage you to treat yourself to a single room.

A deposit of £200 is required to confirm your space or you can choose to pay the full amount if you wish.

Poundon house is stunning and spacious; set within six acres of landscaped gardens on the edge of the Oxfordshire-Buckinghamshire border. This Queen Anne style House offers a luxury escape in the peace and tranquility of the countryside, with the bonus of being within easy reach of London, Oxford, Milton Keynes, Birmingham, the Cotswolds and Bristol.

Once you arrive at Poundon House, you will feel immediately at home. Whether it is settling down in front of a roaring open fire, taking a long bath in one of the unique bathrooms or going for a quiet walk in the apple orchard, for over a century Poundon has been the perfect place to escape the bustle of city life.

By Car:

Only about one hour from London, on the Oxfordshire/Buckinghamshire border. Poundon House is conveniently located near to the M40.

By Train:

Nearest train station is Bicester North. Poundon House is only a 15 minute (£12 – £20 depending on time of day ) taxi from the train station but is in the countryside surrounded by fields.
