In October 2020, Bali Purnati will be a unique venue for two amazing retreats, combining the best of both Yoga and Pilates in a stunning location.

The Bali Purnati Centre for The Arts, known in Indonesian as the Yayasan Bali Purnati was founded in 1999 as an international non-profit cultural foundation dedicated to the preservation, promotion, presentation and creation of new directions in the performing, visual and design arts.

Located just a few miles south of the spiritual heart of the island in Ubud and less than an hour from the international airport, Bali Purnati now offers all the luxury and amenities expected by guests, but within an environment that truly reflects Balinese heritage and culture.

Bali Purnati’s magical and spiritual aura welcomes visitors with a warmth unlike any other place. Staff have a serenity and appear truly happy and blessed in life, perhaps truly reflecting the literal translation of the Balinese name Purnati which refers to a “peaceful and pure heart”.

By keeping each retreat to a small group, there will be plenty of personal instruction for all levels, with several options available for additional and specialist treatments where requested in advance.

For a modest extra charge, guests can enjoy private massages, breathwork classes and Kabira Energetics Healing Sessions, in addition to a daily programme of yoga and pilates.

A spiritual and physical re-awakening through a number of different classes, alongside treatments and bespoke private sessions aimed at releasing positive energy.

In contrast with most other Bali retreats which focus mainly on yoga, our Bali Purnati retreats are led by Nicky who, as a qualified Pilates instructor, knows how to teach all levels with the best of both Pilates and Yoga.

And as our guest yoga teacher, Cat Kabira brings a wealth of experience having lived in Bali for 15 years and reputedly one of the best shamanic yoga teachers on the island. She now also travels internationally teaching her own unique brand of Kabira Energetics Healing, which is available at Bali Purnati as an optional extra for those interested.

During each retreat, the day’s activities will begin at 8.30am with a yoga class taken by the renowned Cat Kabira as our guest teacher and lasting 75minutes. This will be followed by breakfast at 10.00am and Cat is then available for private treatments, if booked in advance and paid for separately.

During these private sessions, Cat Kabira will be offering her signature: Kabira Energetics Healing Sessions. Cat has trained with several teachers in the healing arts and shamans and is also a certified craniosacral practitioner. The work she now offers is a blend of biodynamic and biomechanical craniosacral therapy, shamanic work, and Cat’s personal magic.

This treatment is fantastic for physical pain such as headaches, vertigo, back pain, soreness and overall tension in the body. Cat also works on an emotional and mental level (as well as ancestral) and these optional sessions will leave guests feeling lighter, grounded, more joyful, and more peaceful.

At noon each day, Nicky will hold a 60 minutes Pilates class. Pilates is named for its creator, Joseph Pilates, who developed the exercises in the 1920s. Nicky is fully qualified and has been teaching Pilates in the UK for many years, focussing on proper postural alignment, core strength and muscle balance.

At 1pm lunch will be served followed by private time for guests to simply rest and relax or explore the area, if desired. Massages can be arranged in the morning or afternoon with further specialist treatments such as breathwork sessions with a qualified local instructor. Breathwork is an extremely powerful tool and much like meditation helps us to really connect to ourselves, but on an even deeper level.

It can greatly reduce the stress, worries and anxiety that we suffer from in our lives as well as giving us a heightened sense of clarity and focus therefore helping our mind to think more clearly and make better decisions. It takes you on a beautiful path, aligning the body mind and soul and creating more balance, calmness and peace.

During each retreat, there will be the opportunity to take part in group breathwork sessions or privately on a one to one basis, both held in a loving, supportive environment allowing for whatever trapped emotions or blockages the body needs to release or let go of to come freely.

Each evening at 5.0pm Nicky will be offering guests a class which combines movement from both Pilates and Yin Yoga. She has been teaching this combined exercise for some time in UK, alongside her Pilates classes and it has become extremely popular. The 75 minute class involve gentle stretching and meditation, with a lot of emphasis on breathwork and complete relaxation.

The exclusive retreats at Bali Purnati in October offer comfortable and secluded accommodation for 16 guests in four, two storey Lumbungs.

The Lumbungs, or ‘spirit houses’ as locals call them, are modern wooden structures inspired by the classic Balinese rice barn. Built with traditional materials, each room has A/C, ceiling fan and generous en-suite bathrooms.

Every bedroom has a private outdoor stairwell-entrance with private balconies to the bedrooms on the first floor. Depending whether single occupancy or a couple’s arrangement, there is effectively accommodation on site for 8- 16 people during each retreat.

Alongside the luxurious bedroom accommodation, guests will have the opportunity to explore the beautifully landscaped grounds at Bali Purnati, with additional facilities including a 22M swimming pool to enjoy. All classes will be held in the stunning Yoga Shala overlooking the pool and the grounds.

Bali Purnati is already a unique venue which hosts many retreats and is well-established as one of the most popular and magical places to stay, where guests can enjoy the peace and spiritual energy which the island of Bali offers.

From the moment you enter the grounds, the heritage and culture of the island surrounds you; in both the traditional architecture and also in the respect shown to the use of local indigenous materials throughout Bai Purnati.

Together with the overall tranquillity and spiritual energy of the venue, Bali Purnati will provide our guests with a retreat experience where mind and body are reconnected.

On site, the three kitchens can prepare Asian, western and special diet meals, all of which are prepared daily using the local market’s freshest ingredients. The local menu is plant-based and all produce is local, seasonal and largely organic.
