Classic Yoga Retreat with Jenny and Igor, Portugal
When you come to one of our classic yoga retreats, everything is set for you. Three delicious, almost entirely organic, vegetarian meals are served, the venue offers a splendid and spacious setting for you have plenty of room to move about, the beach is a 40 minute nature walk away, no car needed, and the accommodation is outstanding, ample comfortable rooms in a beautiful building set up in the lovely gardens of Vale da Lama, pool included, all attended by their lovely and highly professional staff.
To assist you during your resting and reflection period, two, sometimes three, yoga sessions are given by experienced down to earth teachers, who have a vast experience in adapting the practice to the needs of the individual and empowering you to bring that practice back home so it can become a meaningful supporting and stabilising anchor in your life.
With the experience that years of practice and teaching give us we can confidently tell you that the results are wonderful, people return stronger, lighter and with a renewed sense of appreciation for life. It can be a sensitive week, as you open up and touch upon long hidden blocks or fears, but at the end of it, it is without a doubt, a happy week.
Our classic yoga retreat is where all the elements of the yoga practice will be explained and explored in a simple yet profound way.
This retreat is an overview of all that yoga has to offer. It can be considered a crash course for the beginner or curious new comer or also an opportunity to develop depth for the seasoned practitioner.
We have two daily practices, morning and evening, where asana, meditation and breath are explained slowly and thoroughly, both in moving and still sessions, giving you the perfect chance to establish a solid foundation for your future practice. We will also include assisted self practice sessions along the week to help you design your routine for when you are back home.
After breakfast we sit together in a non formal and relaxed additional gathering where we discuss our individual issues and share our experiences of how to integrate the spiritual principles that underlie the practice into our lives.
Hatha flow, alignment, yin yoga, pranayama, meditation and yoga psychology. Jenny and Igor entered into Hatha Yoga through Ashtanga Vinyasa, loved the feeling of committing to practice and that of giving movement to the meditative process. Over the years they have slowed down and so has their practice, moving in softer styles, such as Yin or slow flow asana.
Should you be a seasoned yogi, who has spent many hours on you mat, there is something for you too. We have made yoga and meditation the centre pillars of our life, which means we can help you find depth and a sense of newness to your practice that sometime is elusive when we have been wrestling with it for years or even decades.
Accuracy in alignment, subtlety in you breath work, quality in the flow of movement, clarity of intention or creativity in the approach to meditation are only some of the gifts that you can bring back home with you after this week.

They provide a unique opportunity to get to know your own body and your mind, always gentle and kind and never judgmental. Do yourself a big favor and learn from these gifted and beautiful teachers.” Dominique Haijtema, Journalist and author
How to get here
Faro is the nearest airport and there are various ways to get from there to Vale da Lama. Have a read of the Soul Seed Travel guide to Portugal for recommendations if you wish to spend time in either of these two cities before or after the retreat. We recommend Skyscanner to search for the best airfare.
You can book a shuttle from Faro to Lagos on-line approx. €30/each way www.faroshuttlebus.com. Then take a taxi from Lagos to Vale da Lama €12-15.
The bus goes from the airport to Faro (every 30min) +/- €2,20 www.en.aeroportodefaro.com/buses. Then take a train or a bus to Lagos.

I can assist you with a booking, however please be sure you want it before you book as this is a private service and it causes problems for them when transfers are cancelled. The cost is €75 each way (cash payment). To book the car service I will need the flight number, the departing airport, estimated time of arrival and a phone number so the car service can reach you. You will receive a confirmation before your departure and the pick-up is to the left as you exit the arrival hall. There will be a sign with your name.
If possible I try to coordinate with other arrivals to share the cost but it is not always doable. If you are joining the surf retreat, I need to have your height and weight for the surf equipment and your birth date for the insurance.
Please let us know your approximate time of arrival for planning purposes. Should you arrive very late in the evening, you need to call Vale da Lama before you arrive so they can come down and meet you to show you to your room. Should you arrive earlier, you can always lounge around until the room is ready.
