New Year Yoga Retreat in Bicester 28 December – 1 January, 1 – 4 January

Retreat to the Oxfordshire countryside and escape the normal hectic New Year’s celebrations. Our Bicester venue is well loved by our guests for its grand, yet incredibly homely feel and love our New Years Eve retreat because it is a chance to pause, reset, be thankful for the year behind us and set intentions for the year ahead!

This year, alongside guided walks, twice daily yoga, and our intentions workshops, we have added a cookery workshop so you can take a little piece of the retreat home with you. Start 2020 feeling like your true self: rested, rejuvenated and ready to take on the year with a renewed sense of purpose.

This retreat is suitable for anyone who’d like a New Year away with wellness, healthy food and Yoga. Beginners are welcome as well as all ages.

Yoga

On our new year yoga retreats the classes are suitable for all abilities, from beginners to intermediate and advanced levels. Everyone is welcome. We have a range of inspiring and experienced teachers who are well practised at adapting the class for everyone’s level.

Whether it be Vinyasa Flow, Hatha, Ashtanga, Sivananda, Yin or others, all classes cover pranayama, asanas and meditation to help increase oxygen flow, balance, clarity and to promote a peaceful mind. Morning sessions are a more dynamic practice and the evening sessions are gentle with lots of stretches, meditation and relaxation.

Accommodation

Our accommodation is a beautiful family owned stately home that has been refurbished to a beautiful standard, staying in keeping with its original features. There are no en-suite bedrooms because of this.

There are 10 bedrooms and 8 are twin or double rooms and 2 are single rooms with large double beds for one person or a couple or two friends sharing.

The rooms have a sumptuous, classic feel so you will feel spoilt. Yet it also feels homely so you can completely relax and switch off. They are all spacious, luxuriously decorated in amazing fabrics and have beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.

The house has a huge welcoming lounge with cosy sofas and an open fire. The dining room is light and airy with fabulous views of the grounds. There are fascinating paintings and fresh flowers everywhere.

There are a lot of spaces to relax on your own, the living area, the library, the dining room and all rooms are spacious and some have sofas in for ultimate cosiness.

Cuisine

We believe that our retreats should be nurturing in every way. So our Vitality Chefs will create tasty, healthy, vegetarian meals for you from local, seasonal produce. All of our food is gently detoxing and we cater to various dietary preferences.

Our guests are always impressed by our creative, flavoursome dishes — that’s because the food is just as important to us as the yoga. For the new year we indulge in a 4-course supper with mocktails and canapes for that extra special evening. We bring our own chefs with us who all have their own individual flair and genius to produce high-quality vegetarian dishes. We offer fresh, local, seasonal and nutritious meals.

Retreat schedule

The retreat begins on the 28th December at 4pm on the Friday with time to settle in before the first yoga class at 6pm. Dinner will be served at 8pm. The retreat ends at 11am on the 1st January 2020 after a new years day brunch.

The January re-set the new year retreat Starts at 5pm on January 1st 2020 and finishes on January 4th at 11am. On booking, we will send you the full new year itinerary.

7.30am: Hot lemon and ginger and protein snacks pre-yoga
8 am: Silent walk in the tranquil surrounding countryside before yoga
8.30am – 10.30am: Morning yoga & meditation class
10.30am: Brunch served of wholesome warming foods and teas
11 am – 5 pm: Free time for walking, workshops, 1:1’s, treatments or just relax
2.30pm: Hearty and warming lunch
5.30pm – 7.30pm: Evening yoga & meditation class
7.30pm: Delicious Vegetarian Dinner
10 pm: Bedtime

Your teacher

Louise Windsor is a warm and enlightening teacher who uses yoga to help you feel good! Louise has spent time in India, where she studied and practiced yoga extensively- training to teach vinyasa flow in the foothills of the Himalayas. She is an advocate for using the spiritual, heart opening nature of yoga to help you live a more peaceful and contented life. Louise teaches a mixture of Hatha Flow, Yin and meditation on her retreats, but is also a qualified life coach and reiki healer.

Louise is passionate about yoga and helping people feel good. She used to run long distances and turned to yoga to help her find ways to relieve very stiff muscles and lower back pain. She didn’t realise at that stage that it would completely transform her life!

What she loves about yoga is how it can make you feel; peaceful, centred, in the present moment and uplifted at the same time. Louise loves how yoga can release emotions and open your heart. She also loves the spiritual aspect of it; the union of mind, body, breath and spirit.

Her yoga journey began with Bikram which she really enjoyed. However it wasn’t until she discovered Hot Power Yoga (Vinyasa Flow in a warm room) that she really understood what yoga was all about; it was a more spiritual, heart opening practice there. Since then she has spent time living at the Sivananda Ashram in Kerala India learning their Hatha series and experiencing a full yogic life style. She has travelled around India extensively learning from different yoga teachers and trained to teach Vinyasa Flow yoga in the foothills of the Himalayas.

Louise loves the creativity, movement and use of breath in her Hatha Flow classes. All her classes have a strong focus on heart opening, releasing emotions, acceptance and being present. She sets intentions and shares learnings about life through her classes, drawing from her day to day life experience, what she learnt over the years as a life coach and through the months she spent in India.

Louise also trained in trauma sensitive yoga which brings the therapeutic and mindfulness aspect of yoga to help heal sufferers of trauma and stress. As well as Hatha Flow she also loves to practice Yin Yoga to balance out the more dynamic aspect of flow with the slow mindfulness of yin.

With all her experience she teaches a mixture of energising slow flow yoga and a slower mindful practice. Her intention is for her students to leave the class feeling peaceful and content with open hearts. She teaches in a light hearted and flexible way to cater for all levels, and includes pranayama and meditation.

Aside from yoga she enjoys her work as a life coach along with hula hooping, paddle boarding, travelling and dancing.

The rooms are all beautifully finished to a high standard. Due to the age of the property there are no en-suite bathrooms.

How to get here

By Car:
We are near Bicester in Oxfordshire. It takes about 1 hour drive from London. Once you have booked your place with us we will give you the exact address and postcode.

Train:
From London Marylebone station to Bicester North it takes 1hr. Book early for cheaper tickets. It is a comfortable, fast service with no changes. For those coming from other directions please time your train to arrive and depart around the same time as the recommended trains from London so that we can organise taxi share. The retreat is only 15 minutes away and costs about £12-£20 depending on the day (bank holidays are more expensive). We try and group you together to make the taxi a lower cost for you.
