Arrive at the Florence International Airport (Firenze Toscana Aeroporti) in Tuscany, Italy where you will be greeted and escorted by minivan to Villa Poggio di Gaville about 35 minutes southeast of the airport in the town of Figline Valdarno in the heart of the Valdarno region of Tuscany.
The tour begins with time to settle into your private rooms at Poggio di Gaville, our retreat home for the week where we will be practicing yoga and getting acquainted with the sights, culture and incredible landscapes the region offers.

The retreat leader
Spirit of Italy Tours was born out of company founder Vicky Gray-Clark’s love for all things Italian. Vicky’s early visits to Italy seeded an intense love affair with the country – the people, food, culture, landscape and history at every turn. Italy has a spiritual pull on her soul that continues to this day.
Passionate also about yoga, and a yoga instructor, the Awaken the Heart tour offers guests a hand-curated itinerary that blends Vicky’s personal and previous tour experiences she’s enjoyed to the region. The combination of yoga and sightseeing aims to provide tour guests the opportunity to travel beyond the superficial and make meaningful connections while mindfully taking time for self care.
Guests will enjoy the majority of our meals at the Poggio di Gaville restaurant (open only to retreat guests) with food lovingly prepared by proprietor and award-winning international chef Jamal Amin.
The cuisine offers both traditional Tuscan cuisine as well as creative Mediterranean dishes and an extensive selection of wines. The retreat will also offer opportunities to explore local cuisine. Dietary options: vegan, vegetarian, and others considered upon advance request.

What past guests have said
Brandon and Laurie
”An unforgettable experience. Having traveled to Italy several times before, this boutique style vacation was a favourite of ours. Vicky took care of all the details. The olive picking was my favourite and the scenic trip to the press was really cool. Trips into the various cities/towns were also refreshing. We had time to leisurely wander the shops and enjoy Italian meals, but nothing could match the homemade Italian dinner we helped make at the Falcioni’s. The tour felt more like a family gathering than a typical tour.
This trip is a must for anyone interested in having an Italian experience. The people you meet and experiences you have will provide you a lengthy list of memories. I am so glad I was able to locate Vicky an participate in this tour. Going once is not enough. I will have to find reasons to go many times.”
”I really loved the balance of group activities and free exploration time. The relaxed beauty, the great food, opportunity to do some hands-on activities, and the great accommodations were perfect. I was impressed especially with the people you have connected with in Italy who opened their homes, their vans, their restaurants, and their lives with us to make sure we were comfortable and happy.
Most importantly, keeping the group small makes it easy to get around, be nimble and be picked up and dropped at the doorstep of some amazing spots.
This was a trip of a lifetime for mom and I. I can’t imagine it ever being topped. It didn’t matter that we were inexperienced travellers, you thought of it all, and communicated everything from long before the trip to after we made it home safely.
I will be going back to Italy with you again someday! Feel free to give anyone my contact info if they are considering the trip and have questions.”
