Springtime and Easter is such a beautiful time to experience a hiking and yoga retreat in the Lake District. The mountains have had all winter to receive lots of rain, which regenerates the lush greens of mountainsides each year and the colourful wildflowers in bloom are a sight to see.

Start the day in our beautiful yoga shala with views out to the local hills, a dynamic practice to warm and bring energy into the body and mind.

With our qualified and very experienced mountain guide Mark on hand to lead the day hike on Tuesday, and your yoga teacher to lead a more gentle yet equally as stunning walk to Tarn Howes directly from our retreat centre, immerse yourself in nature and feel the benefits of this, being away from the frenetic and urban landscape of your day to day living. Take a packed lunch and just sit and watch the world go by, or enjoy a bit of forest bathing and meditation.

After a day’s excursions, unwind with evening yin and restorative yoga and yoga Nidra followed by a vegan and vegetarian feast.

his Easter hiking yoga retreat Lake District is suitable for those who love more dramatic countryside experience, love hiking or being active. If you have never been hiking before that’s ok, but just bring suitable clothing and be prepared to be active! Men and women are welcome as well as solo travellers, couples, and friends.


There are 13 luxury ensuite bedrooms in the main house with a choice of standard and superior suites which are freshly decorated in a traditional/contemporary style. Each room has a bath or walk in shower and crisp linen. The public rooms of the house are there for you to relax in.

There’s always a quiet corner to stretch out in, and in the colder months a wood burning stove will keep you toasty warm. The house invites you to borrow their selection of books.


We believe that our retreats should be nurturing in every way. So our Vitality Chefs will create tasty, healthy, vegetarian meals for you from local, seasonal produce.

All of our food is gently detoxing and we cater to various dietary preferences. Our guests are always impressed by our creative, flavoursome dishes — that’s because the food is just as important to us as the yoga.


Our classes for our yoga retreat in the Lake District are really special, with natural light coming in to the purpose built, high ceiling yoga shala overlooking the mountains.

Each yoga class is designed in response to the energetic needs of the group, and this is reflected in the overall pace and rhythm of your yoga retreat. We ensure that the level and dynamics of the yoga classes are in harmony with the participants, the time of the day and the activities enjoyed that day.

Zoe’s love of yoga comes from a passion for movement as a whole, often using her background, and experience in sports, and teaching yoga for athletes to bring a soft, yet deep side to her classes.

Zoe’s teaching style is all-inclusive as she strives to make yoga accessible to everyone and is a true believer that we all deserve a life of great health and happiness. After a huge life shift, Zoe has dedicated her life to not only incorporating the steps to make this possible in her own life but also sharing her bounty of skills and knowledge with others!

Zoe’s classes will leave you feeling calm, grounded, and with a deeper connection to the body while also feeling refreshed and invigorated! Retreat schedule

Your hiking yoga retreat starts at 4pm on the Monday with the first yoga class at 6pm and finishes at 12pm on Thursday.

7.30am: Hot lemon and ginger tea and protein snacks before yoga
8am – 10am: Morning yoga and meditation class to warm up the body ready for the hike
10am – 11am: Brunch of healthy energy boosting breakfast foods, porridge
11am – 12.30pm: Tuesday – get ready for a hike. Saturday – massage, free time at the venue or try another activity
12.30pm – 5pm: Guided hike with qualified mountain guides. Enjoy a packed lunch. Be ready for 12pm for departure at 12.15pm. Wednesday enjoy a choice of optional activities; biking, climbing, horse riding, walking, or simply relax and enjoy a treatment
5.30pm – 7.30pm: Evening yoga, meditation and Yoga Nidra class
7.45pm: Delicious hearty and wholesome 2 course evening meal
9pm: Relaxation time

Due to the coronavirus we have reduced numbers for a more intimate retreat experience. We ow have more single rooms available and if you travel with someone from your household a twin room is possible.

A twin/double room is for two people sharing either two single beds or a double bed. ONLY book the twin/double room if you are two people from the same household who want to share. If this option isn’t available on the website please email us to ask for availability.

How to get here

By car
The nearest town to the retreat is Hawkshead in Cumbria which is about a 5 hour drive from London.

By Train
The nearest station is Windermere. It’s about 9 miles from the retreat. The journey from London is about 4 hours. We have recommended train times below. Please book these trains/or similar times if coming from a different direction, so that we can organise a taxi share for you and and save you some money. If trains are booked in advance the fares start at £47 return.
