11 Day Yoga Safari Retreats in Namibia

We will visit Namibia’s Greatest Wildlife Park for incredible game viewing before heading to Damaraland, one of Namibia’s most scenic areas.

Adventurous days lie ahead at the coastal town of Swakopmund, before heading to the iconic Deadvlei/Sossusvlei – here we become still as we meditate in what is known the oldest Desert in the World. Our last night will be spent at a private game reserve where much needed time will be spent at their Wellness Village.

After our first night in the Capital, we will spend 3 nights at a lodge close to the Southern gate of Namibia’s Greatest Wildlife Park – Etosha National Park..

The venues are set in unique locations offering the most incredible tranquil settings in harmony with nature. Each day is set to begin with a morning yoga practice out in nature.

After breakfast, time will be spent on an excursion with professional guides specific to the area, a chance to really get to see the country and what makes it so unique.

On return from the activity, lunch will be served and then some time to relax and enjoy the “holiday” part of this adventure or head off for another activity. As the days draw to a close, you will find yourself back in nature for an afternoon yoga practice and meditation at sunset. The remainder of the mornings, after breakfast, will be spent on an excursion specific to the area, a chance to really get to see the country and what makes it so unique. On return from the activity, lunch will be served and then some time to relax and enjoy the
“holiday” part of this adventure. Or head off for another afternoon in the wilderness on a guided activity (optional) as offered by the lodges.

As the days draw to a close, you will find yourself back in nature for an afternoon yoga practice at sunset. An incredible way to end the day and quiet your mind before dinner under the Namibian starlit skies


Breakfast Buffets
Breakfast will consist of extensive selections of fresh fruits, yogurts, cereals, freshly baked bread, eggs and smoothies.

Lunch will mostly be an a la carte menu with endless mouth- watering dishes to choose from.

Dinner Buffets
Dinner will consist of exquisite choices of salads, vegetable dishes, freshly baked breads, local Cuisine and a variety of grilled meats and stir-fries, followed by decadent desserts and a variety of cheeses and biscuits.

Options of vegan, vegetarian and gluten free are available. Coffee, tea, juice, water and fruit will be supplied all day.


Our 11 day Yoga Safari takes place at six venues – Exploring Namibia’s four most visited locations doing yoga surrounded by breathtaking scenery. Each venue is about 4-5 hours drive from one another which makes it all that much more exciting seeing all the different landscapes Namibia has to offer.

Urban Camp:

Urban Camp is a centrally located comfortable camping ground situated in the heart of Windhoek. It is the perfect get away with all the convenience of being in town. Big shady trees, Wi-Fi internet, nice bathrooms and a sparkling pool. It is a mere 5 min walk to the legendary Joe’s Beerhouse or a good Portuguese restaurant.

For added convenience, you will find a small shopping centre with a bank, ATM, post office, supermarket, pharmacy, 24 hr fuel station, car wash, butchery, café etc. – all just around the corner.

And if you really are in a sightseeing mood –it is just a stone-throw away from the city centre and most attractions.

Taleni Etosha Village
Taleni Etosha Village is an award winning ecologically conscious establishment in the northern part of Namibia. Situated two kilometres from the Etosha National Park, Taleni Etosha Village has three restaurant seating areas, a unique bar, 3 sparkling pools and a curio shop.

Etosha Village comes with luxurious and spacious air- conditioned rooms, modern en-suite bathrooms and shower. Each room comes with a fridge, coffee and tea making facilities and electronic safe. The outside patio and seating area is ideal to relax and enjoy the surrounding beautiful nature. Shared and private rooms are available.

Madisa Camp:
Madisa Camp is hidden between amazing rock formations which are scattered with Bushman Paintings and has privy to an ancient Desert Elephant route that often gets visited by these beautiful giants. Madisa is a good base camp to explore from as there are very interesting sites in the area such as Twyfelfontein, Brandberg, the Petrified Forest and much more.

The swimming pool and bar area are very welcoming after a long day and give you a chance to rejuvenate and enjoy your surroundings. It’s also nice to meet fellow travelers and share tails around a communal camp fire at night while the sky puts on a breath-taking show of stars.

The tents are built cleverly and as eco-friendly as possible around scenic boulder formations each with their own en-suite rock bathroom consisting of a basin, shower and toilet. Hot water is available at night (solar system) and there are paraffin/solar lighting in the tent and bathroom area.

Desert Breeze Lodge: 
Desert Breeze is located a few minutes drive from the center of town proving the perfect escape to experience a space so tranquil and serene it will entice your senses and nourish your soul.

Luxury en-suite bungalows with a private balcony from where you can admire the breath-taking view of the Namibia dunes. Private and shared rooms available.

Desert Quiver Camp
Desert Quiver Camp is located 5km from the entrance gate to Sossusvlei. It marvels with spectacular views and roaming wildlife. The lodge has a large swimming pool and 2 communal boma-areas. Meals are enjoyed at the nearby Sossusvlei Lodge with a terrace that offers magnificent views over Elim Dune and of the floodlit waterhole where you can watch the passing parade of Oryx, Springbok, Jackal, Ground Squirrel and Hyena, whilst enjoying exquisite food and wine.

Schedule of retreat

Day 1 (Arrival)

March 26: Windhoek, Urban Camp

On arrival at Windhoek International Airport, you will be picked up and taken to Urban Camp. Relax at the pool or explore Windhoek city before a much-needed sunset meditation flow before dinner at one of Windhoek’s many local restaurants.

Day 2 (Etosha)

After our morning yoga session and breakfast, we will head to our next venue close to Etosha National Park. From Windhoek, it’s an 4 hour drive, the perfect time to get to know your fellow yogi’s and an introduction to what the week has in store for you while enjoying majestic landscapes and the unique environment of flora and fauna.

After lunch and settling into your luxurious accommodation, we will meet for a sunset yoga session followed by a welcoming ceremony and a mouth-watering dinner under the African sky…

Day 3 (Etosha)

After a healthy breakfast, we will meet with an experienced guide that will take us to Etosha National Park. It is home to hundreds of species of mammals, birds and reptiles, including several threatened and endangered species such as the black rhinoceros. Elephant, Lion,

Leopard, Cheetah, Wildebeest, Giraffe, Hyena, Zebra, Springbok, Kudu, Gemsbok and Eland. are common in the park which make game viewing in Etosha a unique experience. For lunch, we will return to Etosha Village, relax by one of the 3 swimming pools, read a book or go on a nature walk. We will meet again for sunset yoga, ending the day with a buffet dinner

Day 4 (Etosha)
Sunrise yoga on our open-air yoga deck practicing calmness and becoming one with nature, followed by breakfast and a Wildlife Game Drive to Etosha National Park. After a healthy lunch and swim, you can relax before meeting for another yoga session.

After dinner, we will visit the neighboring lodge for live African Music – perfect ending to your first 4 nights in Namibia!

Day 5 (Madisa Camp)

After sunrise yoga and a healthy breakfast, we will drive through one of Namibia’s most scenic areas to Twyfelfontein. This World heritage site comprises of ancient rock engravings, Organ pipes, Burnt Mountains and a Petrified Forest. It is also the most famous rock art concentration in Africa featuring more than 5000 petroglyphs and 200 rock paintings.

From Twyfelfontein it’s an hours drive to Madisa where you will settle into your Tented accommodation, before a meditation session up on the Mountains taking in one of the most spectacular sunsets you will encounter.

Day 6 (Swakopmund)

An early rise for Yoga as the sun starts creeping up over the horizon. A time to reflect, breathe and simply take in the peacefulness of all that surrounds you. It is then time for breakfast before heading to the picturesque coastal town of Swakopmund – where the ocean meets the desert. The driving time is around 4 hours, somewhat meditative with forever changing landscapes.

Day 7 (Swakopmund)

Once in Swakopmund, we will enjoy sunset yoga with spectacular views of the Namib dunes followed by a German cuisine dinner.After a healthy buffet breakfast overlooking the Namib Desert, you will surely be ready for a fun filled day in Swakopmund.

You can choose between a variety of adventurous excursions (optional), from quad biking, fat wheel biking, ocean safaris, dune boarding, horse riding, camel riding, kayaking or surfing. If you would like to observe your surroundings from above, you could even try skydiving or a scenic flight. After lunch you can either relax or explore this cute little German town. Sunset Yoga will be on the beach overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the Namib Desert followed by your choice of restaurant.

Day 8 (Sossussvlei)
We will make our way down south to Sossusvlei after our morning yoga and breakfast. The drive is around 5 hours, but the forever changing landscapes surely makes it feel a lot shorter.

About half way, we will stop at the Tropic of Capricorn, take some photos and have a little picnic before continuing to Sossusvlei – undoubtedly Namibia’s most iconic landscape, located in the Namib-Naukluft National Park. The Namib Desert is the oldest desert in the world and stretches over 1500km with dunes reaching heights of 300m.

After settling into Desert Quiver Camp, take some time to relax at the pool while taking in the beauty that surrounds you. Our yoga session will be followed by a buffet dinner at Sossusvlei Lodge – a memorable experience as chefs prepare exquisite food while having magnificent views of the floodlit waterhole.

Day 9 (Sossussvlei)

Early departure to Deadvlei as the gate to the Park opens at sunrise. We will spend most of the day in the dunes exploring, and if you are up for it, climb Big Daddy, one of the highest dunes in the world. Returning from your adventurous excursion you will have some time to sit and enjoy a lunch in the shade, which is well earned after the morning out in the desert.

Spend the afternoon relaxing or if you simply can’t get enough of what this area has to offer, head off again on an afternoon activity. Early evening yoga to stretch and focus on breathing, taking in the serenity of nature and simply letting go. Dinner at Sossusvlei Lodge

Day 10 (Gocheganas)
After yoga in the stillness of the desert, we will have breakfast and make our way to Gocheganas. Those of you who choose to go on the optional Hot Air-Ballooning will be back in time for our departure. The Hot Air-Ballooning is recommended as the views from above are incredible and one for the books.

The drive is around 5 hours and we should arrive around lunch time. After lunch, relax at the pool or enjoy a much-needed massage. If needed, spend some more time at the Spa or go on an afternoon game drive (optional extras).

Admire 25 different large game species roaming the 6000 hectare Nature Reserve, including Rhino, Bat-eared Fox, Giraffe, Mountain- and Plains Zebra, Cheetah, jackal and Leopard, Blue- and Black Wildebeest, Eland, Oryx, Red Hartebeest, Kudu, Springbok, Waterbuck, Steenbok, Duiker, Klipspringer, Ostrich and Warthog. A fascinating variety of birds are spread over the Reserve and can be spotted at the Wellness Village, as well as at the surrounding water places.

Day 11

Today marks the end of your yoga retreat in Namibia. Gocheganas will transfer you to the airport in time for your departure flights back home. Not only will it be a memorable drive back to the airport, but an unforgettable trip never to be forgotten…

Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia

To enter Namibia, a passport valid for six months from date of entry with one blank page. If you require a visa, you must have at least three blank pages in your passport.
