August Bank Holiday Surf & Walking Retreat in Cornwall
Join us for 3, 4 or 7 nights for our end of summer retreat in Cornwall to enjoy the surf, sun and beach life. Based near St Agnes and Perranporth try to surf one day and sunset yoga another in these stunning locations. This area is known for its outstanding natural beauty and from the TV series Poldark, so imagine a dramatic coastline with crashing waves and stunning beaches.
Our August Bank Holiday yoga retreat Cornwall is very popular. After a 30-minute silent meditation walk and two hour morning practice you can enjoy relaxing at our gorgeous pad, soothe achy limbs in the outdoor hot tubs (yes we have two!), or venture out to the coastal walks or try something a little more adventurous; Surfing, coasteering, paddleboarding, kayaking to name a few of the activities we have on offer.
Whether you are a surf pro, a yoga pro or a complete beginner at either, the combination of yoga with surfing will enhance your balance, concentration and flexibility to help you get up on the board and stay on!.
This yoga surf retreat Cornwall is suitable for anyone who is a complete novice or is an expert. If you prefer not to get in the water that is ok, this is also suited to people who prefer dry land and wish to enjoy the scenery. It’s also suitable for all ages, shapes, and sizes.
Your yoga retreat on Saturday 29th August 2020 starts from 4pm with the first yoga class at 6pm. The retreat follows the schedule below. It finishes at 10am on Tuesday 1st September.
The Midweek retreat starts from 4pm on Tuesday 1st September and finishes at 11am on Saturday 5th September. You can stay for the whole week.

The classes are suitable for all abilities and levels. They are modified for the surfers needs, stretching out the legs and strengthening the core, balance and concentration. We have a range of very experienced teachers who are well practiced at adapting the class for everyone’s level.
All classes cover pranayama, asanas and meditation to help increase oxygen flow, balance, clarity and a peaceful mind. Morning sessions are a more dynamic practice and the evening sessions are gentle with lots of stretches, meditation and relaxation. Bliss!.
Our 2 hour morning classes are designed to help you unwind and let go of the sluggishness from a heavy winter. Feel into your body by slowing down and start to nourish it as you learn what it needs to feel more energised and revived again.
After your day surfing, exploring, walking, surfing, kayaking or relaxing at the beach, return to the shala to unwind and relax tired bodies with a restorative evening yoga class. This gentle 2 hour yoga class will vary each evening and include pranayama and meditation to help mind and body really let go and allow you to enter a state of deep relaxation.

Amy’s yoga journey began when she least expected it. For years believing the yoga was just for the calm and naturally bendy, she found a teacher that made asana gentle, nurturing and healing; fate was sealed. After becoming a yoga apprentice Amy soon realised that this was what her heart was calling her to do.
After completing her 200hr YTT in Costa Rica, Amy knew she wanted to teach in a way that made yoga accessible to everyone. With a background in working as a massage therapist in both holistic and clinical settings, Amy uses her knowledge of the body and its ranges of movement to ensure that no matter what age or ability arrived on their mat, they could feel confident to practise and her regular classes reflect that with people as young as 20 practising along side people in their 80’s.
Amy has completed trainings in Yin, yoga therapy, chair yoga, sequencing, mindfulness and advanced yoga anatomy over the years, each bringing a different dynamic to the practise.
As a massage therapist she is trained in traditional Swedish, deep tissue, myofascial release and reflexology. She also works as an Ayurvedic therapist being able to do various treatments, consultations and has a real passion for yoga’s sister practise.
After completing her training in trauma sensitive yoga, she began using yoga and bodywork in women’s centres and refuges and now stands as a support worker for the Cornwall charity WRSAC.
Amy has worked as massage therapist and yoga teacher in some of Cornwall’s finest hotels, hosted retreats in Cornwall and throughout Europe as well assisted in yoga teacher trainings in Costa Rica. Each experience has taught her something new and she loves that here is sill so much to come.
Amy’s style of teaching comes from a place of nurturing. She wants you to feel free to explore the capabilities of your own body, respect your boundaries and learn how to heal and protect it. By blending strong, grounded hatha practises with the freedom found in Scaravelli and vinyasa she believes that each practise can help create the perfect balance between flexibility and stability in both body and mind.
When Amy is not her mat or around a massage couch she is at home walking the beautiful coastline of Cornwall with her two dogs, planning her next adventure and pretending she is a great surfer.

Your chef for this Cornwall easter yoga retreat is Joki. Joki grew up on a little island in Croatia, Hvar in a family of herbalist and healers. From an early age, she understood the importance of healthy, organic, fresh, clean food. “Food as energy and food as medicine” is the motto she grew up with. Here is what she says about her food.
“It is wonderful to first do yoga and then eat a meal that is pure, organic and packed with nutrients. It is like a double dose of wellness. For me, food at yoga retreats is very important, the menu is designated to nourish your body and mind during asana and meditation practice!
By creating tasty, vegan, gluten free, refined sugar free foods that relaxes the mind and touches the soul is a beautiful way to introduce participants to a new, healthy way of eating, that leaves them energised, full and satisfied. My food is light, easy to digest, fresh, freshly made, contain enzymes, full of fibre, whole grains and good bacteria. The way I see it, food is healing, food is energy, food is medicine, food is fun.”

Your accommodation in Cornwall is simply stunning. It is a traditional Cornish stone farmhouse that has been recently renovated to 5 star luxury. Set in 15 acres of private grounds with a woodland with a stream running through it and rolling hills with breath taking views of the Mithian Valley.
We can sleep 16 guests in 5* rooms spread across 3 separate accommodation options, the farmhouse, the cottage and the studio.
The Farmhouse: This is the main hub of the retreat, where you will gather for delicious meals, herbal teas and great chats.
The main farmhouse sleeps 10 in cosy 4 twin or double rooms with en-suite, two other doubles and an additional twin.
Cosy Cottage: This is set back and sleeps 7 guests in two twin or double rooms, a twin room and a single room.
The Studio: This is a beautiful space best suited to a couple or friends who don’t mind sharing a double bed – who want the complete privacy. A self contained apartment with wood burner and kitchen, it’s a place to get cosy and totally switch off.
Lots of space: There are lots of areas and conservatories for you to relax in and feel like you are getting away from everyone to relax and have some personal space to read a book, enjoy the views and sit and while away the afternoon or evening.

How to get here
The nearest town is St Agnes which is 5 minutes drive to the venue. On booking we release the actual address of the retreat, until then it is a real retreat surprise!
The nearest station is Truro. It’s about 7 miles from the retreat. The journey from London is about 4.5 – 5 hours depending on the route you take. We have recommended train times below. Please book these trains/or similar times if coming from a different direction, so that we can organise a taxi share for you and and save you some money. Super off peak starts at £110 return from London Paddington.
Sleeper train: This is an option to travel over night – it’s a fun option that adds to your holiday experience to Cornwall and you get to sleep through the whole journey!
Taxis from Truro to yoga retreat: Approx. £20 (4 people) 20% more with bigger car 6 people.
We recommend this as long as you offset your carbon foot print please!. Fly to Newquay. From London it takes about 1 hour and prices are from £82 if you book in advance.
