As a frequent visitor to Barcelona, and being one of my favorite cities in the world, I am always on the look out for unique and boutique hotel discoveries. Located in the middle of Gaudi’s district, Eixample and just 650 yards from Passeig de Grà cia, the Retrome Urban Retreat offers an alternative space for the travelling hipster.
Fusing eco with vintage and a touch of retro, I feel like I’ve walked into an art gallery when I enter the reception area. Only in mixing what you love can you come up with areas of such interest as you can see in this photo. And as a social media fanatic, the quirky vintage furniture provided plenty of content for instagram posts!
Every hand picked piece of art and furniture has a story to tell and the Retrome has provided another life to these amazing pieces from past iconic times. They have collected pieces locally and from markets in Amsterdam, the Netherlands,Barcelona Rome and Lisbon.
Feeling more homely than hotel (hence the retreat label), the vision of the Retrome was to create a welcoming place in the city that made people feel at home with a relaxed and happy vibe, which is why they don’t have room numbers and no two rooms are alike.
For every guest that starts with a complimentary welcome drink and a chat about their desired itinerary so they can recommend the best coffee bars, local restaurants, bars, boutique shops and art galleries. The staff are super warm and friendly whilst respecting your privacy at the same time.
My cosy retreat bedroom has plenty of natural light which I am a big fan of, a stylishly designed interior con bright yellow furniture, French balcony and most important of all, a big comfy bed along with all the mod cons of a coffee machine, flat screen TV, power shower and WIFI – all essentials for the hipster lifestyle! It’s a great room to relax when not exploring all the sites of the city or hitting the beach.
The Retrome Urban Retreat Barcelona is not just for for hipsters and fashionistas, it’s also perfect for travelers and families. Offering only 11 rooms and 4 apartment suites the Retrome get’s booked up quickly! I only got to stay there for one night on this occasion so I will certainly be a long weekend with my friends this summer.
