Podere Trafonti is a chic, eco-friendly domain nestled in the picturesque hills of Southern Tuscany where you can escape the everyday turmoil, together with your family, friends or colleagues.
We host groups of 6 to 10 people, for at least two nights, in comfortable and spacious accommodations, for creative and recreative retreats, vacations and celebrations, as well as professional sessions.
Our ambition is to practice sustainable hospitality (and agriculture), in harmony with our natural environment, the territory, its inhabitants and their culture, as well as making your stay with us utterly pleasant and vivifying.
Podere Trafonti was inhabited and cultivated as a farm until the late 1960s. It had been built simply, bit by bit, to accommodate an extended family and their cows, pigs and chicken.
It was abandoned for nearly 40 years and we found it overgrown with trees and bushes, among which an impressive fig tree that had taken over what is now the kitchen. Today, it is once more a working organic farm, cultivating olives, fruit and vegetables in its permaculture vegetable garden and orchard, and boasting an apiary with thousands of honeybees.
It is also a guesthouse and retreat centre which welcomes guests in five double rooms housed in three different buildings, of which a fully equipped independent pavilion.
It offers a range of common facilities, such as a library and a living room, and many places where you can gather as a group or retreat to on your own. There is a beautiful 17.5-meter-long swimming pool with a vast solarium, an outdoor wooden platform and a studio where we practice yoga and other activities. Several rooms are equipped to receive guests with limited physical mobility.
Accommodation options and bathrooms
Podere Trafonti can accommodate 10 adults (or children over 10 years) in five comfortable, spacious double rooms (two single or one double bed). Each room can be accessed independently. There is underfloor heating in all rooms and shared spaces; air-conditioning in three of the bedrooms (those in the new buildings); mosquito screens on all bedroom windows.
Two rooms (Alba and Tramonto) are in the main house, with a private entrance and a spacious library, as well as one shared bathroom, with walk-in shower.
Two rooms (Bosco and Lido) are in an annex called Mel next to the swimming pool and each have their en-suite bathroom, with walk-in shower.
One room is in another annex called Max, a cottage fully equipped with kitchen, dining-living area and bathroom, with walk-in shower.
We can accommodate a couple smaller children with their parents on sofa beds (in Max and in the library of the main house).
Shampoo and soaps from Officina del Mugello (Tuscany) (www.officinadelmugello.it) or similar products are made available for guests gratuitously.
Yoga Spaces - outdoor and indoor
Podere Trafonti has a bright indoor yoga studio with a natural teak floor. It also has an outdoor yoga platform underneath a large green oak, bordering on the forest and the olive grove.
A number of mats, blocks, belts and blankets available on site.
We serve a luscious breakfast or brunch buffet with a wide array of seasonal, locally sourced and mostly organic food and drinks. Breakfast or brunch are included for overnight stays.
Non-alcoholic beverages, snacks and fruit are available throughout the day.
We can arrange for tasty, healthy three or four course lunches or dinners, with vegetarian options, cooked by Antonella and her team with locally sourced, seasonal and mostly organic ingredients.
There are several panoramic terraces, for sun or shade, and other outdoor spaces for playing or relaxing: a teak-floored studio for group activities, such as yoga practice, home cinema, music and more; a out-door wooden platform underneath an ample green oak for yoga practice or other group activities; a generous pool and poolside terrace with bar and refrigerator; Trafonti’s permaculture vegetable garden, orchard, forest and apiary for exploration and harvest.
Guests are welcome to play with various available indoor and outdoor games. There is a TV screen available in the library and a film projector and screen in the studio.
